Job-Hunting Etiquette Tip
The saying goes, “Dress for the job you want, not for the job you have.” I believe that if you dress to impress, you could increase your chances of getting a great job. Some job seekers are taking the interview process a little too casually. Denise Bober, director of human resources at The Breakers, a luxury hotel in Palm Beach, says many applicants show up for their interviews in shorts and flip-flops.
Then there was the young man who applied for a job at the world-famous hotel. The position: Poolside bungalow attendant. His attire: A business suit. Bober offered him the job!
"Oliver" — The Well-Mannered Dog
I want you to meet “Oliver” — the well-mannered dog. He is my 2 1/2 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He comes to work with me every day and usually sleeps under my desk. He is the best alarm clock in the world because he tells me when it’s time to shut off my computer and go home (precisely at 6pm). When he is not “working,” he enjoys chasing lizards, taking walks, eating anything that resembles food, and taking long naps.
The Phone Booth is Back — Minus the Phone
Superman may be the only person who visits a phone booth anymore. That’s until he discovers the cell phone booth! Cell Phone booths are the latest craze. I am in favor of these trendy enclaves of privacy. They’re especially handy at nightclubs where you can barely hear your friends over the thunderous music. USA Today ran a story about cell phone booths on Jun 18. To read it, go to http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/techinnovations/2006-06-18-cellphone-booths_x.htm
